Series 10 Champions - Spartans!
It was a long awaited success for Team Spartans as they finally joined to ranks of other teams to be one of our series champions. Spartans have always proven to be a strong team to beat but some how luck never seemed to be on their side and this time they were out to prove us wrong.
After beating Elite in penalties in the quarter finals, Spartans saw themselves matched up against another strong team, Burj Tekkers in the semi-finals. But that didn't stop the Spartans as they pushed on through and eventually took the champions title from previous champions Shahama City beating them 2-1.
This series also saw another first with games held on the new outdoor pitch at the dome. Although construction was still going on around the new admin building, the new pitch was showing great potential for tournaments and we're looking forward to many great games there!

Series 9 Champions - Shahama City!
This certainly was one of the most interesting Sevens with plenty of upsets, last minute goals and nerve-wrecking penalty shoot outs.
All eyes were on Burj Tekkers and Elite as both came with high hopes of winning yet another series.
The group stages started out with no big surprises but the knock out stages of the Quarters saw 3rd placed teams of both groups, Shahama City and Al Noor, knock out 2nd placed teams in close penalty shoot outs.
Next in the first of two Semi-finals, defending champions Burj Tekkers initially struggled to put the ball into goal against a determined Shahama City but eventually showed their strength with a beautiful shot into the top corner. And inspite of Shahama City keeper's best efforts, Burj Tekker captain Matt Pollock soon followed up with a superb rebound putting the Tekkers up 2-0.
Shahama City gave no thought to the idea of giving up the match and in a matter of mins scored two goals, including a brillant goal from a heel flick, to keep themselves in the game. That brought the match to penalties and in an extremely close shoot out, Shahama City defeated the defending champs 8-7.
First timers Shahama City continued their winning streak into the Finals as they met with Sevens 'veteran' team Elite, once again dashing their hope of taking home the Challenge Trophy. Well done Shahama-ians!

Series 8 Champions - Burj Tekkers!
With the challenge trophy up for grabs for Elite team, series 8 was certainly an important match for the team but boy were they up against some strong contenders. Elite team came into the tournament strong, topping their group in the round robin stages but newcomers Burj Tekkers were determined to start their entry into the sevens with a bang. With their tough tackles and some pretty good shots on goal, Burj Tekkers ended the Elite Teams dreams of lifting the trophy that night beating them 3 - 1. In the other semi-finals, Spartans dominated the match against Egypt Pharma and they too made their way to the finals.
With 2 equally strong teams in the final match, it was a close fight with the game ending in a draw at match time. The 5 mins of extra time was equally nail biting with Spartans unfortunately conceeding an own goal that led to yet another draw. In the end, Burj Tekkers goalkeeper made a brilliant save during penalites, giving his team victory. Congratulations Burj Tekkers!

Series 7 Champions - Elite Team
Returning champions Elite team showed just why they were the ones to look out for in the Sevens as they scored 4 goals against Team Tango in the finals. While both teams were equally matched in their scoring chances, it was Elite who made the most of it and had the better finishing touches. And newcomers Eco Rangers certainly lifted the mood and brought some rah-rah into the tournament with their exuberant singing and dancing making this one of our most festive Sevens ever!

Series 7 open for registration!
With Ramadan coming up, the next Sevens to be held in August will start at a later timing so that players can join us after prayers and still enjoy the tournament. We've already got a few teams on our list so do register early to avoid disappoinment as places are limited!
Series 6 Champions - Elite Team!
It's third time lucky for the Elite Team as they finally get the lift the challenge trophy after being in the finals for the third time. Having been knocked out by Al Qudra Holding and Team Galaxy in the past 2 series, the Elite Team came back stronger and better this time and it's certainly paid off. It was a close finals match with Abu Dhabi United - who trumped FC Abu Dhabi United in the Quarters - which ended in a goaless draw after extra time. It was eventually down to penalties which saw Elite beat Abu Dhabi united when the keeper made a save in the 'sudden death' stages.

With the World Cup matches going on in June and major matches on fridays, Series 6 of the tournament will be postponed to July. See you all in a couple of weeks!

Congratulations to Team Galaxy!
Team Galaxy reigns supreme once again as they win the Sevens for the third time! This series saw more new teams participating and even some unexpected upsets during the play off rounds. Team A.C. Pharmacy caused a major upset during the quarters when a last min goal resulted in a 2-1 win over past winners Team Al Jassim. But no one could still quite dominate the field like Team Galaxy as they took home the inaugural cup with a 4-2 win over Team Elite.
15 Apr - Fixtures for Series 4 is out
Fixtures for tmr's matches have been uploaded and we have a total of 8 teams joining us this series. With quite a few new teams in this series, it's seems the competition is on for our defending champions. It'll be a day of exciting football at The DOME tomorrow!

20 Mar - A new champion emerges!
Al Jassim, a team new to the Sevens have certainly proven that they'll be the next team to watch. Winning the title was no easy task as it was hard fought against Team Galaxy who over the past 2 tournaments have shown that they are a tough team to beat. With the game tied after 5 mins of extra time, it was down to penalties in an extremely close finish with each keeper making excellent saves for their teams. Al Jassim eventually emerged winners with 5 goals to 4...congratulations!
19 Mar - Will it be Galaxy's day?
Today marks the 3rd series for the Sevens and Team Galaxy looks set to sweep the competition off its feet again. But competitors have returned and they're definitely not going to let Team Galaxy take it away that easily. Seems like a day of exciting matches on the pitch today!

Team Galaxy are the Rawdhat Sevens Champions once again! New comers The Gunners fought hard to snatch the champions trophy away from Team Galaxy but it was not to be as Team Galaxy sealed their victory with 3 goals to 1.
Team Galaxy have been unbeatable in throughout this tournament winning all their matches and the Rawdhat Football Sevens challenge trophy is just one win away for them!

A total of 8 teams have signed up for series 2 including series 1 winners Team Galaxy. With their outstanding performance in the previous tournament, it seems they will be the team to beat tomorrow. But insiders have warned that several strong teams have signed up and are up to challenge Team Galaxy for the winners title...Will Team Galaxy continue their winning streak? We'll find out tomorrow!

Change in Challenger format
In order to make the series more exciting, teams have to win 3 matches consecutively in order to win the Rawdhat Football Sevens Challenger Cup instead of winning 5 matches only. This makes it tougher to be the ultimate champion, but if you do it only means your team have been the best!
